A New Shop Opens Its Doors in Willowbrook

Relax & Unwind arrives on the village high street — and a familiar face has been handed the keys

There has been a little more activity than usual along the Willowbrook high street this week. Boxes have been arriving, lavender has appeared outside a previously quiet shopfront, candles have been placed in the windows and, after more than a little rearranging, the sign has finally gone up. Relax & Unwind is officially open. The newest addition to Willowbrook Village is a place dedicated to something we could probably all use a little more of — taking time for ourselves. Created by Willow Gate Studio owner Nikki, Relax & Unwind brings together wellness, creativity and simple activities designed to encourage a calmer everyday life. 

And, importantly, products aren't simply designed and placed on the shelf. Ideas are made, tried and tested first. If something is confusing, too fiddly or simply isn't enjoyable, it goes back to the drawing board. After all, the Willow Gate Studio promise remains: Thoughtfully created. Carefully tested.  

🌿 What's Inside Relax & Unwind?

Opening day brings the Wellness Digital Journal to the shop — designed to provide one place for reflection, planning and everyday wellbeing. Over time, the shelves will also become home to physical Relax & Unwind artwork and carefully tested creative wellness products. There are already some rather interesting wooden mandala shapes being tested behind the scenes... Whether those tests result in peaceful creativity or somebody wondering why they ever started remains to be seen. The Gazette has been assured that the guinea pig involved is willing. 😂 Meanwhile, customers looking for digital Relax & Unwind artwork should take a short stroll along the high street to the Print Shop, where the downloadable art collection will be available. Apparently even fictional villages require sensible stock management.

PT Richard Wren Takes Charge of Relax & Unwind

Every new shop needs someone to run it. Following what the Gazette understands was an interesting recruitment process — including one brief administrative incident involving an entirely incorrect species — PT Richard Wren has been appointed manager of Relax & Unwind. Richard brings his established interest in movement, wellbeing and balanced living to his new position. His philosophy is refreshingly simple: wellbeing doesn't have to mean changing everything at once. Small, manageable choices can make an ordinary day feel better. At Relax & Unwind, that might mean writing in a journal, spending half an hour creating something, taking some quiet time, moving your body or simply remembering that rest belongs on the list too. Richard assures us that customers will not be required to flip tractor tyres before purchasing a wellness journal. The Gazette considered this important to clarify.
